Springtime Sensory Tub (Guest Post from Dirt and Boogers)

I'm really pleased to be introducing one of my favourite blogs for little people Dirt and Boogers, for your play inspiration today. Amanda is a fellow lover of messy sensory play (as I think you can guess from her blog title and header!) and creates super fun learning opportunities for her toddler J. You should check out her series 31 Days of Play absolutely full of ideas and information about play with young kiddos. I'm loving this DIY Lightbox and Homemade Bean Bag Toss. You can check out Dirt and Boogers on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Hi! I’m Amanda and I blog about my adventures in Motherhood with my son, J, over at Dirt and Boogers. I love Charlotte’s blog and I am so excited to be guest posting here today!

The weather here has been so beautiful lately so J and I have been spending a lot of our days outside. We both love the springtime weather, so I decided to put together a fun springtime, bug-filled, sensory box.

I filled a plastic tub with dirt, added some weeds from our flower bed, sticks, and plastic bugs. J added a shovel later. Super easy, and frugal!

J dug right in and found all the little bugs hidden in the dirt. After lots of digging and several renditions of “The Itsy, Bitsy, Spider”, J was rather dirty but very happy!

This would be a fun activity to while working in your flowerbeds. Since I don’t garden, I put ours together in a plastic tub.

  1. Love your post Amanda. You always have such fun thing you do with J.

  2. I love it! We made a gardening type sensory bin too, and now I am thinking I just might throw in some bugs!
