Soo we left off our 5 Senses of Valentines with 11 red roses after making our love potions perfume concoctions - what to do with this entirely unromantic number of flowers? Well there is that entirely made-up saying 'when life gives you roses... make sensory tubs'.
I de-headed all of my beautiful flowers in the name of play - but there wasn't really enough, so I set to work on my craft stash and cut a million (probably) tiny petal shapes from every red, pink or purple coloured thing in there!
We had felt, construction paper, vellum, origami paper, ribbon, card, foam, stickers and tissue paper petals, all handcut- about halfway through I noticed my circle paper punch and realised that would have probably been easier, but hardcore play is not meant to be easy work right?
I wanted this tub to be about the textures so I didn't add too many scoop/pour/filling props - just a couple of heart shaped cupcake cases - the kiddos set about making cupcakes straight away of course
(I promise as soon as V-Day is over we'll go back to being about hardcore messy play and mud action but for now I'm quite loving all the pink & red loveheart playtimes)
