This week we've been making lots of lovely handmade ornaments as gifts for Vinnie's grandparents.
I love the traditional red and white striped candy canes, but they are notoriously hard to get hold of - last year I had to buy them from Starbucks, this year I have seen pink and white, yellow and purple (?) and some red and green ones that would have been perfect but the white stripes were practically greay (yuk).
Instead we decided to make our own...
I got Vin to sort the buttons into red and white piles while I cut out some candy cane shapes from red card. Then he got busy sticking them down (I had to go back and reinforce a few with an extra drop of glue later) - this was a good exercise in pattern and colour recognition too!
