This week I finally got round to putting together a sensory tub for the kiddos. We do a lot of single-experience sensory play - like waterplay or a bowl of dried rice, but for some reason (procrastination) I was yet to put together a proper sesnroy tub.
This is to go along with our Autumn learning - I used green split peas and red lentils for the filler, and all the contents are from our nature boxes - conkers, helicopters, acorns, pressed leaves, seedpods and pinecones.
The best thing about this is once we're done with this tub I can put the contents back in the nature box and I plan to reuse the filler for a Halloween box in a couple of weeks - I'm thinking orange lentils and black beans would look very appropriate non?
I added a couple of spoons for mixing and pouring and somehow the farm animals seem to get included every time we have had this out too!
You can read more about the importance of Sensory Play here and here and there is lots of Sensory Tub inspiration over at Pink and Green Mama.
So friends, is this something you'd try at home or are you going to let the potential months of finding lentils squashed into the tread of your shoes put you off?
