jack o'lantern sensory bags

This week while we're having some Halloween fun the kids and I made these sensory bags. They're just ziploc bags with the labels rubbed off with nail varnish remover, filled with clear hair gel or handwash and food colouring. I wanted to add an extra sensory element, so we used a couple of handfuls of red lentils, and before filling the bags I stuck some craft foam shapes on the inside of the bags. The kiddos had lots of fun squishing them around, you can see how some of our handwash started to foam up with all the action.

These were kind of a single serving play activity as one of the bags burst and the sticker foam came unstuck after a while, but they were lots of fun while they lasted. We talked about the different textures, traced the face shapes and of course Little Vin had to see how they felt under his feet!
